Fresh Local Produce

OUr FIsH

Our local fish merchant Matthew Stevens of St Ives delivers to us daily. You’ll find our Cornish fish specials feature the freshest catch brought in by the Matthew Stevens team. Over ten years ago Harbour Lights made the commitment that 100% of the fish we serve would be responsibly sourced. For more details, you can read our Fish Buying Policy & Where our Fish Comes From document.

OUr CHIPs

We make this is a science. A chippie lives or dies by the quality of its chips and we are complete nerds about it. Our local potatoes comes from farms within a 20 miles radius of our shop. Our double cooked spuds taste perfect. We serve them naked, and you choose the toppings. Traditional salt & vinegar, ketchup, gravy, chips, or our yummy dips.

Still good, still expensive. We visited a year ago and left a review saying how good it was but how expensive it had become. A year later, we’ve been back! Happy to say it is still excellent, but slightly miffed that the prices have risen yet again. I wonder what the limit will be on the price of a simple slice of supermarket bread and butter, as it’s now £1.35!! So Harbour Lights is effectively charging around £30 for a loaf of bread!? I didn’t have any this time…. But staying positive, the restaurant is still very good. The staff are friendly and competent, the restaurant is clean and light, I’m still a relatively happy customer. This time I had the 9 fish bites and chips, and it was massive! I should have gone for 6 bites in hindsight, but there you go. Everything we had was delicious. I stand by my comments about the price, but it is in a tourist hotspot and it was our choice to go there and pay for it so…

Just as we remembered. When we visited Falmouth last December we were disappointed that we were unable to eat in the restaurant and had to settle for a takeaway which we ate in the car. This time I made reservations and it was lovely to be able to sit in and enjoy such a lovely lunch. My husband had the regular fish n chips with curry sauce, I had the cod bites. It's just as how we remembered it from last time; the fish was proper crispy and we loved the curry sauce. It was sweet yet had a lovely heat to it and with plenty to last our meal, unlike some chippys where you don't get enough. Highly recommended.

Best fish and chips 👌 It’s become a tradition to go here every time we arrive in Cornwall on our holiday. The fish and chips are absolutely delicious and consistent- we’ve never once had a bad experience. We’ve used both the takeaway and sat in the restaurant several times and it’s always fantastic. It’s also very clean. Excellent chippy - highly recommend. Always a queue which says it all. Only slight criticism would be it is expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. Fantastic chippy - highly recommend.
